Supporting Women’s Health And Well-being: a new direction

I started this blog thinking that I’d share general lifestyle stuff. Like the places I’ve travelled or things about my Frenchie and random art stuff. But every time I drafted something, it didn’t feel quite right. And then I don’t post anything which is not the purpose of having a blog.

I have 2 different Instagram accounts and this blog. Which, let’s be honest, I don’t share much and don’t even have a following. I was explaining to my hubby that what I’d love to do is share stuff that could help just one woman out there. She may finding it a little difficult to find her place in life. Or is struggling with PCOS or peri-menopause. or with mental health and well-being. And then it hit me. I’ve been trying to keep everything that helps me separate: art, nutrition, and spiritual well-being. When in fact, they fit together. I have used these 3 areas to get me to the same goal, which is to have good health and well-being.

A small disclosure

Over the years, especially during my 30s, I felt like I was in a constant mental health crisis. I look back on that time and actually don’t understand how I managed to hide it from everyone. Except for my hubby, I did have to confess to him. But it wasn’t easy. I developed all these little tools to help me accept certain things about my life, my past, and myself. And found small ways to focus on how to recover from depressive episodes quicker than I had before. Which, if you experience this, it means days in bed. And going from a week in bed to a day in bed was a big achievement for me.

Anything that was or is holding me back, is the fear of someone I know finding this. I haven’t shared anything with some of my closest friends. My thoughts get into a game of tug of war:  “I don’t care that someone I know might find this blog” to “I don’t want anyone to know anything about me”. So, like in all challenges I’ll try to overcome this. I’ll start off with areas I’m comfortable sharing and then maybe I’ll be a little braver (if that’s even a word) later on.

But ultimately, my goal is to create a place where we can share thoughts, ideas, tools, and experiences so that we can all learn from each other. There is so much misinformation and negativity out there, and if it affects me and my well-being, then it affects some of you too.

Aims for my blog redesign
  • Create content on nutrition. I know there is an infinite number of nutrition advice and guidance out there. But as qualified nutritional advisor listening to someone on instagram talk a load of rubbish really irritates me. But you soon realise that in order to get a following you need to talk about the opposite of what studies and complex research says. Humans will find the easier route to their health conditions and you’ll alway find the answer you want. (The earth is flat)🌍
  • Tools to support well-being. I don’t quiet know what this looks like yet. But watch this space.
  • My art. For years I have been drawing, painting and doing other various crafty things. Being creative helps me to calm my mind. I know of a number of people who think that being creative is for children, even though they buy handmade product from Etsy. A little contradictory 🤔. Sharing my creations may spark a little creativity in you 🤷‍♀️
  • Occasional random stuff. But only if I think it could be relevant to women’s health and well-being.
